Cooking Pad Thai

Image
Yesterday, I was the only one who was at home for the afternoon, so I was the one who was going to cook dinner. We decided that tonight we were going to eat Pad Thai. In the afternoon my friend Ezra and I went out for a food shop to buy the necessary ingredients. We had to go to three different markets to get all of the ingredients, over a span of two hours. Once we got back we stepped in the door, and almost immediately outside it started to rain so hard that within the time that it would take you to walk five steps, the entire porch was completely wet. After a minute or so of rain, it started to hail, so we called Max because his favorite weather is hail. Once the excitement was over we realized that we were starving judging by the way our stomachs continued to growl, as neither of us had eaten much lunch and were very hungry, so we decided to have some cereal. Once we had eaten our fill, we removed the tofu from its container and put it on a plate covered with napkins. We then ...

Canobie Lake Park

Yesterday all three of the All-City musical groups went to Canobie lake park for to do our last performance of the year and to reward all of us for our hard work throughout the year. The groups are Chorus, Orchestra and Band. I am in All-city Orchestra and Chorus. At Canobie there is a performance hall, and I was extremely relieved to know that it was air conditioned. We performed then 3 educators came up and told us what we were doing well and what we should do to make it so that the pieces that we were performing sounded the best that they could. We left the hall at about 1:00 in the afternoon and then continued to go on as many rides as we could in the two and a half hours that we had to walk around and see everything. I was in a group with many of my friends: Ezra, Lucy, William, Boris, Terrence and Andrew, as well as the chaperone who was Jen capuano, William’s mother. Today was the first time that Terrence ad ever been on a roller coaster, but he went on every singly rid...

The Algebra 1 Test

For the past few months, I have been studying Algebra 1 on Khan Academy. But only a few days ago I took the final test. Last Wednesday I woke up and almost immediately started to worry about the test that would decide if I could take geometry at the high school Next year. After breakfast, I spent a few hours going over everything with Baba and making absolutely sure that I knew everything that I needed to know for the test later. After a few hours of checking over everything, I decided to go with the plan that we had decided on earlier, and I went down to our neighbor Kirsten's house to see the puppy that she was fostering for the time. I played with the puppy for about an hour before leaving to eat lunch before the test. I ate a quesadilla with cheese, pancetta, and avocado, then got into the car with Baba to go to the high school. When we arrived Ezra and Zack were waiting on the front steps of the high school for me. We went into the front office and waited for ever...

Walking with Jack

Image
As we arrived in Downham Market we got off the train and looked around, Jack was waiting for us by the front of the train. While driving into a town nearby to Jack's house we went to a butcher to buy a roll of beef and to a different store that sold vegetables. We were going to make a brisket for dinner that night because Baba was with us, and she is very good at making brisket. After we had put the food in the trunk of Jack’s car, we drove to a nearby street that was too small to drive down. We walked down the street to a small cafe that we ate lunch at. I ate a bap with some meat, alfalfa, and lettuce. A bap is a sort of small bread roll that you put things inside of, similar to a hamburger. When as we drove back we saw some wonderful English countryside and also a bit further along, a few pheasants fighting on the side of the road. Jack said that there is a five percent chance of hitting a pheasant while driving along the road. As we got near Didlington (which is where Jack...

Likes and Dislikes

Image
Likes and Dislikes On my trip with there were a few things that I enjoyed and a few that I did not. Architecture and City Design I really liked the variety of architecture in England and Amsterdam. Many of the buildings were different colors, different shapes and made out of different materials. It was much more interesting than in Paris, where almost every single house and the building was the same tannish-gray stone, making many of the buildings all the same. The lack of variety in the buildings in Paris was extremely boring when every single one is the same shape and color. Amsterdam   London Paris Amsterdam is a combination of a normal city without skyscrapers and Venice, Italy. It has wonderful canals across the city, as well as streets for people who do not want to walk or take a boat everywhere, as it is in Venice. In Amsterdam, much more people bik...

Going home from Amsterdam

The first thing that we did in the morning was walking along one of the canals in Amsterdam because our flight back home was at 3:00. We walked along Singelgracht canal for about 30 minutes until Baba wanted to go back because she thought if we waited for any longer we would miss the plane. On the way back we went a quicker way and got back in fifteen minutes. Then I told Baba that we could walk around for about another hour before we had to leave. I suggested that we walk around a nearby park for the remaining hour before we left. She agreed and we walked around the park and around the lakes in Vondelpark before we went back to the hotel. We backed our bags finally and left for the airport. The lines at the airport were extremely long, but we managed to get to the terminal 30 minutes before the plane left. When we arrived it was about 4:00 in the afternoon (because of the time change) and Ezra, Mom and Dad were waiting at the exit to bring us home. For dinner we had Sushi and Ez...

Day #3 in Amsterdam

Image
When I woke up Baba had just left to get breakfast I asked her for a small green cake that I had seen the day before. After she got back I sat up to eat, but my head started to hurt a ton so I sat back down. Lat night I had a headache too, and I thought I could sleep it off, but not yet. I told BBaba that I was not feeling well so she decided to take a walk before our friend Achim visited us.  Achim lives in Germany and he was the one who came to America with his daughter and lived in our house while my family and  I  were  on our trip. After Achim came he and baba went out and walked around while I rested.  They came back at about 1:00 and we went out for an Indonesian lunch.
