Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type

Click, Clack, Moo:
Cows that Type

This fall I did something very exciting. I was in a play called “Click Clack Moo.” It was run by three high school students, named Molly, Jenny and Erica. They were called Center Stage. There were twenty or so kids and we rehearsed at the Armory Center for the Arts.

Every week we would play awesome games. One was called “the bus ride of dooooooooooooom” where Molly would go around the circle and choose one person to come on the bus. Then she and everyone on the “bus” would have to act like that person who just came on.
Another game was the “belly race” where everyone would get on their bellies and race to the other side of the big room. Whoever won, would get a five second penalty so other people could have a chance to win. Once I won twice in a row, even with the penalty.

Other times we did things for the performance.  Sometimes we would practice our parts. I was Patric the pig. I would sit down at a table with the other pig, Patricia, and practice speaking our lines.  We were trying to memorize our lines and give them some emotion.  One time we got to paint the background of the stage. I got to paint the right side of the barn and the sky.  Near the end of all rehearsals, we got to start making our costumes. Since I was a pig, I got a pink hat and cut out foam ears to put on it. Also I had to wear pink clothes. They were hard to get so I had to use my mom’s old pajamas and a red t-shirt.

On the night of the performance, Molly got us ready for the play.  Right before everyone came in, we went into a room in the back and sang a few little songs. Then we went out from the room to behind the curtains.  Then Jenny came out and said, “We are proud to present to you ‘Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type’”.

In the end, I had a great time doing this play.  It was something new and now I know that I love that I can be on stage, saying lines, acting as a character, in a story and having fun. I hope that my next play will be quite as fun as ‘Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type’”.

  1. I too, Charlie, was a thespian in my earlier days. In the sixth grade I played Peter, Tiny Tim's brother, in Charles Dickens, "A Christmas Story". I had a song and dance routine with the father, mother and sister. All went well up until just before the final dress rehearsal when Miss Houghton, the director, asked me to mouth the words and not sing. Oh well. I didn't want to go to Broadway anyway...

  2. I had the privilege of seeing this play; it was very enjoyable. I love the story (from the book) and was thrilled that it became such a good play. It went so smoothly!
